how do you render displacement in renderman?

how do you set displacement in renderman? I am sorry I am new in renderman, but i want to try render displacement in renderman, it’s much faster than mental ray

i am using maya 6.5

You know it!
dang can it chew thru a displacement. DISCLAIMER I dont know much about renderman, I wish I did but I dont. Here is what little I do know : )

I havent touched Renderman in a year and not all that much when I did but as I recall create a Combine displacement appearance. near the bottom you have the option to link a file. Do this and you will have access to a new screen with the image file attributes. Set bias to -1 and gain to 2 (or use the settings in the link attached, one of them should work)
Make sure you use txmake to convert your displacement map to a .tx file you can access this with the icon next to the file path.

I know a lot of Renderman users are on here and they know a LOT more about this than me. Check this linkand the Rendering Zbrush Displacement Maps in External Renderers thread for more examples.
