How do you export DAZ3D to ZBrush?

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can help me with how to export a DAZ3D figure to ZBrush? When I save it as an obj it does not transfer all of the mat’s. I have a pair of denim jeans on my character and it has ripped holes. It loads the figure and jeans but without the ripped holes. Attached is an image of my DAZ export settings. Thank you!

I’m using DAZ3D 4.6 and want to export to ZBrush 4R6. 64 bit version…

It’s not clear from your description if the holes in the jeans are actual geometry or if they are in the texture map. If they’re in the texture map then you’ll need to make sure that is also applied in ZBrush, though ZBrush doesn’t use an alpha channel for transparency so they still may not display correctly.

There is a ZBrush GoZ plugin produced by DAZ Studio which makes moving between the two programs easy. It used to be free, though I don’t know if that is still the case. You might cvonsider looking at that.

I would be very careful of the Daz Studio to ZBrush bridge. I’m going through a problem right now with it. I built a simple tomb in Hexagon, used it’s bridge to send the model to Daz Studio 4.6, then used Daz Studio’s bridge to send the model to ZBrush… IT DEACTIVATES ZBrush 4r6 everytime !!! :o

So, I did a fresh install of both programs, after a delete of all versions of both programs… same outcome again…ZBrush was deactivated again. This time, when I tried to reactivate ZBrush, I got a message that I had reached my maximum activations for ZBrush, and that I had to contact Pixologic for a serial number repair !!! They won’t be back in the office till Monday now…

Just saying… be careful !!! If I were you, I would export as an .OBJ out of Daz and bring it into ZBrush that way.
And, as mentioned, it sounds like the “holes” that are missing are alpha in one of the textures.

Good Luck,

Mike C.

Unticking the “No Maps” should send the opacity map for the holes over with the jeans.
