I am hoping somebody can shed some light on this. In the video below, Spicer applies the CurveTube brush to a single curve, yet when I do the same thing and click on a single curve, it applies the CurveTube to all the curves at the same time. I’m using ZBrush 2022.0.8 and wondering if he is using an earlier version were it was possible and is now no longer possible in a newer version. (video is advanced to correct spot)
Yes, would be good to know how this was done. Couldn’t replicate with any key combinations or modifiers I could see. Also, it’s hard to see but I think Spicer was using version 2021.1.2 so might be a version specific bug/feature.
Thanks for the reply @tobor8man . If that’s the case, and it is a bug, I hope they are still going to fix it in the newest version and ZBrush 2022.0.8.
Hello
What’s happening in the video shouldn’t be allowed. When framing a mesh with curves and clicking on any curve. All curves should be filled with the insert mesh.
He ran into something with the mesh. I would need to speak with @spyndel and also take a look at the mesh.
Thanks for looking into this Paul. To me, it makes more sense if it only affects one curve at a time. There are workarounds, but this would be much easier if you want to apply different brushes to each curve. As is, you have to hide everything you don’t want to affect.
Hi @zber2
Yes, that’s exactly the case.
There were some substantial changes to Curve IMM functions made in ZBrush 2022. This did result in a change in behavior for those brushes, and certain specific situations like the one you point out are no longer possible. The Curve IMM brushes will now draw out curves simultaneously on all active curves, regardless of which brush is selected. You will need to limit your active curves to those which you want to draw out geometry along.
We can take a look at this, however we can’t make any promises that this can be restored. There are a lot of interdependencies involved here, and the risk is always that you break ten other things just to get at one thing that may or may not be worth the potential damage
Thanks @Spyndel . I would really appreciate it if you look into it because it does make sense if it only affects one curve at a time as I mentioned above. But, if it’s not possible, the workaround will have to do. Thanks again!
EDIT: April 4, 2024. Ya, I figured this wasn’t going to go anywhere.
