Go easy on me please, i’m a zBrush noob. I searched the forums but haven’t found an answer to this or on google unless I missed it somewhere somehow. Anyways, I’ve been fooling around with sculptris so much lately that I love it so much it has made me want to learn more about zbrush itself and how to use it. In any other program I can figure out how to start a new project from scratch including in sculptris. Normally its FILE > NEW PROJECT/NEW or FILE > NEW MODEL, Etc, Etc or even if you import a premade model it at least asks you if you wanna place the model into a new scene or something. Now when I’m in zbrush I can’t figure this out and it’s not even under FILE because I’ve looked and I don’t see it. I’ve figured out I can usually press CTRL + Z and usually undo everything but then I was getting frustrated because i could back it up only so far and shapes and models previously there up to that point would be stuck and I am now unsure how to start over fresh again inside of zBrush itself other then the only thing I could think of is to exit out of the zbrush program entirely and then start it back up again so how do I start over without having get frustrated and do that? Is there another way? Could someone please tell me or point me to where and how to do it?
When you launch ZBrush you already have a new project going by default. It’s just a matter of drawing something on the canvas to start with.
One way is through the Projects tab of LightBox (which by default opens on your screen when you launch ZBrush). For something that’s similar to Sculptris, just double-click the Polysphere project and that will load it with the sphere already on the canvas, ready for editing.
Another way is to use the Tool palette to select a 3D object (or to load or import one). You draw that on the canvas, then press T to enter Edit mode.
I strongly recommend viewing the getting started tutorials in the ZClassroom. Check my signature.
Thank you very much. I usually learn most from doing video tutorials anyway. I don’t like to read much unless I have to mainly because I have a short attention span when it comes to reading books and such unless it is something that I can’t find a video tutorial for because I am a very visual learner and I learn by watching others.
