How do I rotate points of the 'deformer'?

Hey,

Newbie here… Please help me with something which i just can’t figure out (yet).
I would like to use the ‘deformer’.

  • I have masked parts of my model
  • switched to the gizmo 3d
  • hit the gear icon
  • selected ‘deformer’
  • applied the desired amount of lattice points via the yellow arrows
  • then selected the points i want to manipulate using the mask.

good so far. now i can translate the unmasked parts of my model, I can also scale.

But when i want to rotate, nothing happens. It just gives me a hint: “Rotate Y Alt to unlock”. But pressing ‘alt’ does not help. Still nothing happens.

Why can’t i simply select the lattice points and rotate them, like i can translate and scale them?

Any help is more them welcome.
Thanks in advance, b.

EDIT: I restarted my system and now it seems to work for whatever reason.

Hi @buboj ,

One note here–the points rotate around the center of influence of the Gizmo manipulator, relative to the screen plane if using the white circle on the manipulator. If the manipulator is centered on the unmasked points , in some scenarios there may be no rotation.

hey.

thanks for the speedy reply.

i could not reproduce it, so it might have been a bug. dunno.
as i tried several different point selections and axes, i don’t think what you have said was the case, but … i guess we will never know.

This is always possible, but in the case of a user that is new to the feature it is more likely to be a usage issue. Just to clarify my point here, point rotation with this feature happens around the center of influence of the manipulator. In certain situations, if there is no distance between the control points and the center relative to the screen plane, then no rotation can occur.

Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:
