How do I make this part super crisp and sharp?

Hi all,

See attached my screenshot:

The area indicated by the arrow seems to be very blurry and too smooth. How do I make it super mechanically-sharp and hard and crisp? I’ve tried going over it with the Polish / SPolish / CreaseCurve brushes and the Polish / Polish by Feature sliders but not much use.

Tks!

trim dynamic will probably get what you want, but it looks like you need more geo to get a super crisp edge there.

you could also create polygroups and use grouploops to help you get the type of extrusion you’re going for.

Ok, will try!

Here is another option you can try.

If working on a flat surface, you can use “Tool > Deformation > Inflate”

several minutes into this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyFZFyK3UVU
he shows how creasing edges helps keep a sharp edge. you might be able to work some of that into what you’re doing.

his whole work flow on hard surfaces is well worth watching.

I would make that part into polygroups and then crease the borders. That would make it easy to polish or harden the groups or just the edges. Lots of other ways to do it, which is what makes ZBrush so much fun.
