How do I delete Masked parts?

I’ve been trying to make a sword like the tutorial on the website and then I come across a question:

I made this mask with an alpha:

I was just wondering how do I delete thoses selected parts?
I mean how do I make them disapear to leave a hole on them?

I tried with the hide option in “visibility” but this just “delete” them leaving a an empty area that doesn’t fit like a hole.

Thank you.

Models do not have internal volume. They are simply a surface. When you delete polygons, you expose this fact.

In order to create the kind of hole you’re talking about, you need to create the interior walls.

If you want to simply create a hole in one side of the mesh (as opposed to a tunnel through the mesh) the easiest method is to hide everything except the polygons where the hole will be and move those polygons inward. Then press Tool>Geometry>Edge Loop to instantly construct polygons in the space between the two positions – the walls of the hole. The polygons that you just moved become the bottom of the hole.

If you wish to create a tunnel through the mesh, see here: http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/Topology:_Mesh_Editing

I did as told in the tutorial but Im kinda lost when it comes to topology part.

Im not english speaker but I understand well what they say.

But they don’t explain what to do with the green dot.
