How can I make my edges brush strokes sharper for organic sculpting

Hello all! This has been a problem puzzling me for a long time. So my sculpt always have very blurred edges.

For example, I have this rock, despite I increase the subdivision and tried to to some more polishing with HPolish brush and Dynamic Trim, it still feel very soft and blurred. Not as crispy as I’d expected.

This is the style/result I’d like to achieve with the edges (image courtesy from: https://icecrystalart.artstation.com/projects/lVdDoV)

I would be very grateful if someone could give me some tips and some helpful tutorial resources! Thanks everyone!

Hello @Opheliah

Some tips in no particular order:

  1. Increase the resolution of your mesh or use Sculptris Pro mode

  2. Pinch Brush (actually produces sharper edges if Sculptris Pro is disabled)

  3. Some of the polish Brush variants will polish to crisper edges

  4. The Clay Polish function in the Tool palette can tighten up the edges for you on rocks.

  5. The contrast brushes and slider in the deformation palette at low intensity may be able to sharpen certain features.

Good luck! :slightly_smiling_face:
