How can I draw simultaneously on two touching subtools that have different textures? I will be very grateful for your advice, thank you!
Hello @AlFan
You may need to clarify a bit further. However, If you mean that you have two separate subtools, each with a different texture map applied, then you could do the following.
-
Convert the textures on each subtool to polypaint. Polypaint detail is dependent on mesh resolution, so the meshes would need to be sufficiently subdivided.
-
Merge the two subtools together into a single subtool via the Tool> Subtool> Merge commands. Now you can paint/sculpt on them both simultaneously. You can then split the subtools apart again when finished using the functions in the Tool> Subtool > Split menu. Once split apart, you can generate a texture from the polypaint of each tool individually if you want.
If you want to preserve your subdivision levels while doing this, both subtools should have the same number of subdivision levels and be at the same subD level. Make sure they are merged at the highest subd level. That way when you split them back apart you can reconstruct the lower subdivision levels if needed.
If this is not what you’re talking about, perhaps you could expand a bit more?
Dear @SPYNDEL! Yeah, that’s exactly the question I was interested in. Thank you so much for responding. I’ve done all of the things you’ve described. I succeeded in drawing simultaneously on two subtools. But after splitting again into two separate parts, I tried to export textures. And, unfortunately, faced a strange nuance: the program imitates texture exports, but does not really export anything. What important detail do I overlook?
You’re probably going to have to explain this a bit further for my benefit.
If you export an OBJ with an active texture applied, it will export with a bitmap version of that texture in the same location. Aside from this, or to export an image in a specific format, there are two ways to export textures from ZBrush.
-
Export from the Texture palette. To do this, you must clone your applied texture from the Tool> Texture Map palette. It will then show up in the main Texture menu where you can manually export it.

Use the Multi Map Exporter plugin.
