How can I draw along a straight line?

[FONT=Verdana]I’m very new to this program so I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask this question.

I’ve been going through the tutorial lessons on this web page. Recently I’ve been trying to learn about the Transpose tool using the video https://pixologic.com/zclassroom/lesson/sculpting-transpose

Around 4:19 the small white circle is described to change the view to be the same as the transpose line. For me this doesn’t happen. It seems to only seems to shift the transpose line to the Z axis.

The video also claims that when you hold down shift after beginning a line the line will be straight along the horizontal axis. This also doesn’t seem to work on mine. I’m not sure if I’m missing steps, misunderstanding, or if the feature is different or unavailable in ZBrush Core.

Message boards and other users speak often about the disparity between ZBrush and ZBrushCore, and so it’s been very difficult for me to know what things I’m able to use and what I can’t. I’ve watched all of the tutorial videos on the Pixologic site that I can find for ZBrushCore, and so I have to move on to the regular ZBrush videos, so I worry I’m running into some of these disparities.

Thank you for any help you can provide. I would love to learn how to properly use this program to it’s fullest.

Hi mrJeef straight lines it works in core (I’m guessing the video is the old way of doing it with transpose)
Using just the Standard brush you just have to click on your model (dont let go) then hold shift (dont let go) then drag in the direction you want the line then let go of shift key first then the pen/mouse (the line will be made as soon as you release the shift key)
the pic i included shows the green line you will see while dragging the mouse when you hold down the shift key “after” clicking on your model and you can move your line around as long as you dont let go of the shift key and pen to get the line in the angle you want…its pretty cool you’ll see the angles IE: from 0 up to 45 .

(I only said mouse cause I use the mouse for that purpose (straight lines) and pen for everything else…but it works the same no matter what your using pen or mouse)
hope that helps a bit.
