How can i control how material is painted on the model?

I modeled a ball, then textured it with 1024x1024 blue textures with GUV. I painted it with brown color using projection master. After i picked it up it crack as in the picture.( i posted an other thread just ask about this). Then i projection master the ball again to paint some matalic material on it. However, the material doesn’t appears as i want. seems i don’t have alot of control how to paint the material. it always appear 100% and there is no blending on the brush even i used soft alpha. I inluded here the pic of the ball that i want to achieve ( i did this in photoshop)

Can anyone tell me how can i control the intensity of the material when i paint it on the model? Also please let me know if i want to save this ball for next time to open after i have save those material on the ball ( blue texture, rock material, reflection gel material) will it still have those material with it if i load those back? i did tried but it only show one material
Thanks alot for your advices

Materials do not blend together. Only one material can be applied to any part of a model at a time.

If you wish to blend material properties, you should use a material with more than one shader channel (S1, S2, S3, S4). You can then blend the shader effects together.

hi

you might want to…if you hadn’t already tried out zbrush with the demo…to download the manual for 1.55b. I think it
is available standalone. a search would confirm that.

It has a bit more info about materials and how they work…not as much as I or most anyone else would like but it does explain better than z2 help does.

also follow any of Jantim’s threads. he has made some fantastic materials while he experiments with his own projects and does tell us what he learns about them…lot’s of valuable info there.

Also RyanKingslien (hope i spelled that right) started a thread about materials and posted a pdf of what he has learned about them as he experiments also.

that should get ya started anyway…the rest is all up to our experimenting and sharing what we learn.

Hi
I have had the same problems and find some very interesting things about in the QuickStart Material to find at pixologic.com.
