:oHello everyone.
I have a small problem with the Dynamesh when I cut an object in two part with slice curve, the two sides are cut hollow but then I’d like it to be full.
Anyone know if there is a button that I would support that would avoid me to do a “split hidden” followed by a “close holes” every time?
Thank you in advance.
You need to make sure ‘group’ is selected in the Dynamesh panel.
Hi Gordon. thank you for your reply.
Yes, the group button is selected.
See in the attachment; on the left; what I have, on the right; what I would have.
I think dynamesh works differently now. I think that part that fills the whole is there but is not the same poly group, so it’s hard to select (I think). It’s definitely weird now.
I’m not sure to understand; you mean that it might be due to the version of zbrush (I have 4R6)?
I’m not even sure you have R6. However, I am saying I have noticed some fairly dodgy behaviour from dynamesh in R6.
OK. I note. Thank you anyway for your help, Gordon.
I think this is the Droid you are looking for… and yes, this did change in version 4R6.
If you click ‘Auto Groups’ in ‘Tool > Polygroups’ before you do a split, it will split the section as one piece, closing the hole. So, the flow would be…
- do your slice.
- DynaMesh with ‘Groups’ on, ‘Project’ off.
- ‘Auto Groups’ in ‘Tool > Polygroups’.
- ‘Groups Split’ in ‘Tool > Subtool > Split’
edit: added paths to Auto Groups and Groups Split which I didn’t do the first time.
What a useless addition to the workflow. Surely we don’t want to have to have an additional step in this process?
Thanks for the tip btw
Display properties>Double sided, would probably help ;). Also it has been stated you should use Dynamesh to ‘block in your base form’. You rarely need to have all of those points while modeling a base form prior to subdivision. Use it, then loose it as soon as you can. Hope that makes sense, others may differ in their ‘opinion’.
Thank zber!
It’s working good with “autogroup” button.
I just don’t find “group split” button! Do you mean “split hidden” in subtools panel ?
Thank everyone reply on this thread!small_orange_diamond:D
Split hidden works if something is hidden ;). You can also split groups if you’ve cut up your tool.
‘Groups Split’ in ‘Subtool > Split’
Yep thanks!!
