His Z is my Y Hmm

lol, No wonder I’m confused lol.

Mu tutorial is getting me confused because his mirror Z axis is my Y axis. If he draws a cylinder3D he sees it from the Circular side but mine is from the side.

How do I change this please so I’m a little less confused. :o:rolleyes:

There is global X, Y, and Z. If your object isn’t oriented the same way as his, that would account for it. View buttons help. I made some and there is also the Axis Plug. Link to my files below. Also posted an Axis objectyou could load with an X, Y and Z on the ends  . The Axis Plug is not hard to find (or maybe you have it already)

Hi Again, I found both the plugins and it’s quite possible , more than likely I’m not understand then. It appears the drawn item flips to a different axis view of the object on screen. IE : Front View, Base view. NOT re-orienting the object to an axis.

the problem I’m facing is, if I startup ZB and draw a cylinder3d, I see a “rectangle” not the circular end.

I’m not sure what button help to look at for changing global Y,Z initial orientations. Its only causing me an is now because I’m in the largest and most complex chapter supposedly and mirror and weld to Z is actually my Y :o:rolleyes:, frustration lol…

The software takes some time to learn. I have been trying to make the UI more ‘user friendly’ for 3 years.

You can change the way a mesh is oriented in the Tool>Preview window. Click+drag in the window and hold Shfit to snap to an axis. Then press Store to save the new orientation.

Thank you both, I had not been introduced to the preview yet though i think it should have been in the tutorial book,

I started the chapter again and it just works.

Thank you both very much.

Thanks for the extra like Doug, something that is going to take quite some reading I think
