Higher Div loses smoothness? Can see brush strokes

I have been working on SDiv-3 and working on muscles, got it all how I wanted it, smoothed it in and it looks great but for some reason on SDiv-4 some brush stroke lines come back? Also… If I go to 4 and then back to 3 a couple brush strokes come back very lightly

Why is it doing it? how do I Fix it?

Smoothing needs to happen across all subD levels. The reason for this is so you can edit on lower subD levels without losing your details on higher subD levels.

This is one reason that it is best to work from lowest to highest subD level when making forms and shapes inside of Zbrush.

While it doesn’t really matter how you work, working from low to high will keep you from having to smooth, step up, smooth, step up, smooth, etc.

yeh but if I smooth sub3 and then go up to sub4 and smooth sub4 and then if I repeat that I go 3 > 4 and its not smoothed anymore

basically I was working on a lower Division and the higher one always returns to an unsmooth state

Workflow…basic shape>> then pull out bits > divide when out of bits to move.
Heavy subdivision too early in the process can cause problems. Anything you wish to pose needs to have a lower points count.

High subvision layers can preserve details even when you modify a lower level. It’s a bi-product of being able to step down, make a large change to form, and still be able to maintain the scales and wrinkles you might have already sculpted.

If you smoothed at a lower level you’ll have to go back to the highest level afterwards and resmooth the area, or just delete the highest subdivision level after you’ve smoothed a lower one.

Yeh I just deleted the higher Div and then divided again to fix the issue
