Hiding brush variants that appear above workspace

I am using a brush that has a number of alternative styles. These alternatives appear above the workspace and shrink it by doing so. They can be displayed as a floating dialog by pressing ‘m’ so I wondered if there was a way of hiding the set that appears above the workspace.

Yes there is. Go to “Preferences > Interface > IMM Viewer” and turn off “Auto Show/Hide”.
