ZBrushCentral

Hi, I'm new to this..

Hey everyone,

Not sure, if this is the best thing to do seeing as I’m cheating and not searching through the forums but I’m sure there are some nice people there just to help me for a second lol.

Right well, I started Zbrush about 5months ago… Was fun, but then I went off it because I just didn’t know what some of the features do or how to convert to PS etc. (so many questions)

I was annoyed that I didn’t know how to do some things that most people could do and I know that practise makes perfect but I like to know what things do so that I could build myself to that point.

I used to visit Zbrush Central quite often but I never registered, I just tried to do what most people made with their tutorials… But was still confusing so yeah I went off the program.

Until someday this week, I decided to sign up for a IT level 3 Games Development course which is starting in September and it teaches you how to design, model etc. But I thought it would be best if I got a head start so that I knew what I doing… So yeah I’m back lol.

Anyways, enough with the story, My point is… Is there anyone out there that can guide me through from start to wherever.

Like, what I should do to start with (showing me links to other places on forums that I should look at etc.) then second stage, then third… you get the jist.

Any helpers? would be grand

Cheers,

Bladevil

PS. Sorry if the post is in the wrong part of the forum

Hi) I’m not sure, what are You seeking for, and I’m too, near the beginners level, but, AFAIK, there are some excellent video tutorials from Digital Tutors to ride on basics of zBrush, and then to combine it in couple with Maya and XSI. They are very good for starting point, I’m sure.
If You think, You get enough of basics knowledge for now, I recommend You to find a very useful tutorial of ‘Joan of Ark’ modelling, create her, make UV map, and then export it to .obj and try to work with her here, in zBrsuh. Subdividing, sculpting, texturing and making of displacement maps are really fast and qualitative in zBrush. zSphere modelling too, btw.
Good luck)

I only know how to use the basics of Zbrush but not Maya or XSI, are they appropriate programs to get?

See I know some stuff on Zbrush but you say UV mapping and displacement maps… what are those? when can I learn to find out what they do etc.?

Basically, what I’m looking for is help from people to show me where to start and how they got better, what resources helped them get better?

Thanks for replying though

However, where is the joan of ark on digital tutors?

It’s really hard to have somebody as your personal trainer when you talk about teaching programs like this. Pretty much what I did when I started was buying DVD’s and learning from the education section at www.Pixologic.com. You can also ask for help here with techniques and stuff.
I think once you get to know the technical part of the program, thats when your traditional art skills start to come out.

Again, go check out the www.thegnomonworkshop.com DVD’s and also the learning section at pixologic.com.

Ok, good luck!
