Help, Zbrush 2018 corrupting file when auto-saving and saving file manually.

After sculpting for a while and working in different subdivisions I try to save my project and get an error that crashes zbrush and then creates an artifact mess of my mesh and appears to corrupt the save so it can’t be reopened. It only happens after I work for awhile and haven’t ever had any issues with this before.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

In case it helps Im working with
AMD 3900x with 64gb of memory and a msi 1070ti. The mesh has 13.762 mil active points with 7 subdivision levels. I can’t figure out if this is an issue with zbrush or not. I’ve also reinstalled it several times.

Hello Justin

This could be several items. You may just have a corrupted file. Are you using Layers? If so make sure none of them are still in REC mode when saving.

Do you have an older model that loads? I would try recommending exporting that older one as an GoZ at the highest subdiv level.

Import that GoZ on a new Polymesh Star.

Use the reconstruct subdiv button in the Tool>Geometry menu to get back your subdivisions.

Save that and see if that helps.

Why have you not upgraded to 2020.1.1?

ZBrush 2018.1 ?? O.o
Maybe it’s about time to check at least what this corrupted file would look like in an updated version. Never heard of someone enjoying more the old releases than the new ones.
There’s hardly anything around in the 3D world that comes close to the amazing and stable amount of new features that ZBrush proposes every time. Why living in the past ?
