Help with UVmaster!!!!

Hi, I am using Zbrush 4R7, and I have this problem when using uv master, always use work on clone, when copy the uv from the clone to the original, the material gets copied into the original too. When I try to preview the subtool with another material it wont work. This did not happen with previous version of zbrush, I really need help, I just want the uv’s get copied. Thanks.

If your model doesn’t have polypaint then you can just turn off the paintbrush icon in the subtool list. You will then be able to see the selected material on your model.

If your model does have polypaint then you need to do this:

  1. Make sure the ‘M’ button is on, either at the top of the interface or in the Draw palette. This means that we’re just using Material.
  2. Select the Flat Color material. It’s the first in the Standard Materials section of the Materials pop-up.
  3. Press Color>Fill Object.

Filling with the Flat Color material has the effect of removing any embedded materials, so now if you switch to the material you want it will be displayed correctly on the model.

The error in UV Master can be avoided if you turn off the paintbrush icon for the Clone before pressing Copy UVs. (Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update.)

Thanks so much, it worked!, didnt know it was a bug!

Slightly off topic but when you want to remove the polypaint from a subtool, how would you do that. I thought white as in 255 255 255 were nothing but when i fill the subtool with that and try to change the colors on the panel the color stays the same. This is something that bothers me, would love to know how to erase polypaint.

did u fill the subtool or mesh with RGB or Mrgb? there is a difference between them.

Might have been mrbg, how would i get rid of that?

If you want the subtool to show the default behavior of displaying whatever the active color is, just switch Polypaint off, either in the Polypaint menu, or via the paintbrush icon in the individual subtool entry.

It’s not a matter of needing to “erase” a color, it’s a matter of Polypaint colorize mode, which is off by default, being switched on when you fill it with a color. In that mode it displays whatever color it has been painted with, or white by default. In that mode, you must overwrite the color with another to change it.
