Help with Quick 3D Edit Mode

Hello!

I realized I was accidentally sculpting with the ‘Quick 3D Edit’ button enabled. When I disable it and go back to edit the subtool, I get the error message:

Mesh can not be edited while the 'Quick 3D Edit mode is off

Please turn on the ‘Quick 3D Edit’ in Transform palette and try again

Is there any way to fix this so I can turn off the Quick 3D Edit and continue sculpting? From what I understand, this button speeds up view performance by not showing proper smoothing?

Thanks in advance!

Hello @Bobby_Goldner

Quick 3d edit mode is required under most circumstances in ZBrush. There is no procedural smoothing in ZBrush that is compatible with sculpting. Subdivide a mesh or use dynamic subdivision (on LOW poly meshes) to smooth.

The only circumstances you would disable Quick 3d Edit is for a render time procedural smoothing of certain displacment effects inside of ZBrush. Even then, it is rarely done as it’s generally easier just to increase subdivision level and render as real geometry.

Awesome, thank you so much! I didn’t realize it should be on by default. I thought I enabled it accidentally.
