Help with looking at 2nd hand license

Hello all,

I am very new to the forums, but have been a long time admirer of zBrush and wish to take to purchasing a copy. I’m more of a hobbyist at digital sculpting, and wish to transfer from Sculptris to Zbrush. However, being the poor man I am I’m referring to purchasing a license that someone doesn’t necessarily need any more.

I am looking for any help regarding the matter. I know the fee is $49.99 and I would be more willing to pay if there are any seats under $3-400. I know zBrush is definitely worth the price that it is set at the moment. But money has been tight lately and I don’t think I could afford it for a long while unless it’s a used seat.

Another worry of mine is buying a dud key, what’s the easiest way of contacting the zBrush staff regarding a seat to check it’s legality? Or is there another way?

Thanks for your time,

Paul

I don’t have any licenses available but I’ll comment on the legal seat issue.

What I would recommend is to do the transaction through Paypal. Make sure it’s run through as a goods purchase and not a gift. If it ends up being an illegal license you could dispute it through Paypal with proof from Pixologic.

You could also consider getting an academic version if you don’t need to do any commercial work. There aren’t any limitations on the software itself.

You could get a discount from purchasing it from a reseller. I’ve bought a few copies from Novedge and have had nothing but good and quick service from them.

They list the full commercial version for $576. The academic version is listed at $428.
They can also be trusted as they’re an authorized seller. It’s not just listed on their website but Pixologic lists them on their website as well. If you go to Pixologic.com and click on the store>resellers section it lists a few places, including Novedge.

I almost considered the academic version but decided that the full commercial was only $150 more and cheaper than that and an upgrade. But I need to do commercial work if you don’t it looks like the academic is closer to your price range.

Seems these stores are all in the US, I must apologize as I’ve forgotten to include my location. I am in Australia, and Storm VFX who sell this are charging $770 for the damn thing, that’s $699 for zBrush, and 10% GST which is ridiculous.

I’ll just have to order from Pixologic directly sometime if I can save up the cash, too hard to find 2nd hand keys. Once again, being in Australia screws me over for software prices. Curses.

Thanks again.
