Help with imported scanned data

Hey everyone, Im a total noob and could use a little help. Ive spent a lot of time digging through the forums and Youtube but can’t seem to find the answers or help I’m looking for specifically; I’m hope some people here may be able to help. Some background info I’m working on a MacBook Pro, Wacom tablet, and I’m using zbrushcore. The Scan is of an helmet; Im basically using the ZClassroom helmet tutorial as a learning curve and guide except that I using scan to start with as opposed to creating it from scratch.

I’ve imported my scan .obj file and found that the obj appeared kind of randomly in space. It took a little time but Ive managed to rotate it and get the obj even with the floor. The next battle I had was getting the obj to face forward and upright or snap into position. Then perhaps the most confusing was getting Symmetry to work properly; Im guessing the object isn’t oriented properly for symmetry to work how I need it to.

I most likely did that in the hardest and longest way possible so I’m hoping there may be a short cut or hot key command that can accomplish that a little quicker?

How can I orientate my scan in the work space to snap to views?

How can I get symmetry to work? As an example: If this were a face and it is directly facing you, as if looking in a mirror, when Im sculpting on one side of the face around an eye the the symmetry tool is sculpting more between the space between the opposite eye and ear. (I’m hoping that made sense)

Thanks so much and any help would be greatly appreciated.
