help with game making

i me and my friends wanna try making a game and i need to no what i need i have blender and zbrush and thats about it

Hi Imp101,

well… you need a 3D-Egine that handles the Game (Graphics, Physics, AI, Object-Interaction, and so on…)

I you d’ like to start you could check out:

http://www.udk.com

there you can get the Unreal-Engine3 Development Kit for Free (as long as you do not plan to commercialy release the game.

There are many other 3D-Engines on the Market and also many who are free to use. For Example the Ogre-Engine. (You have to google to find information about it).

But for a Beginner in Game-Design, i would recommend you beginn with one of the “Modding-Toolkits” that you often get with modern games. You can open levels from the game and you can see how its done. There is also plenty of information on the net and in the Modding-Forums where most people like to help you with your projects.

For an RPG-Game you could take a look at the Dragon-Age-Toolset that is included with Dragon Age:Origins or for a First Person Game i would try out the Hammer-Toolset for all Half-Life-2-Engine-Games.

Good Luck with your Game

You can build your models into Sketchup and export to 3Drad with a plugin, very easy to get started. In order to get the best of Zbrush for low resolution game model, you need better UV mapping to limit file size or you will waste all your efforts later.
