hey,

i haven’t been posting anything lately because i’ve become really interested in Poser4. I’m not ditching Zbrush, i’m just trying out another program. Anyway, i was wondering if anyone new how to group several props together and save it as another prop. For instance, if i were to make a building out of several cube props, and then i wanted to group all the peices so i could move the building as one piece. if it’s possible, i’d really like to know how to do it. plus i would appreciate if someone could tell me how to save something as a prop that i could just pull in real quick whenever i wanted to. i hope this makes since to ya’ll. thanks.

Hey, Jibberish. I know what you mean about Poser’s appeal, but also how it couldn’t replace ZBrush. It’s a good idea to have a full toolbox of programs that you’re comfortable with.

To answer your questions as best I can (I’m certainly not a Poser expert), I know that you can group objects together by parenting one to another. For example, you can import an umbrella prop for a character, position it in her hand just the way that you want it, and then parent it to the hand. When you then move the hand, the prop will move accordingly.

Any object that you are working with in Poser can be saved as a prop. Let’s say the umbrella, for example. You get it textured just the way you like it, and want to use it that way again later. Go to your props tab, and at the bottom of each folder within it you will see a + sign. Click that to add the prop. The same goes with poses, facial expressions, hairstyles, and even whole characters. Just use the appropriate tab in the sidebar and click the + to add it.
