I had realized when I insert the 3d mesh shape, the object already pixelized. It doesnt feel the same way I did before. Did I accidently turn on or off some setting??
I saw the dynamesh is off when I insert the 3d mesh, then I turn it back on, everything back to high resolution. that’s kind of wired.
Hello @John_Tsai,
Unless there is something going on that I don’t see in the image, this is likely just a case of the underlying topology of your mesh. Masking masks points. The number of points on the surface of the mesh as well as the shape of the polygons they form will determine the quality of masking that is possible. A mesh surface with low resolution topology can only produce low resolution masking results.
Your mesh looks like it has radial topology converging to a single point at the center, and it looks like it is fairly low resolution. Switch on polyframe mode with Shift+F. You should see that the topology of the mesh is determining the shape of the masking.
You can somewhat improve the results by subdividing the mesh. The more points and the smaller the polygons, the crisper the edge that will be possible with masking. However the radial topology will continue to distort the masking. For best results here you will want to either remesh or re-create your topology to the optimal form for ZBrush --evenly distributed quads as close to square-shaped as possible. Overly stretched or triangular shaped polygons will produce jagged looking results.
If you activate Dynamesh for a mesh it redraws the polygons into evenly distributed quads adequate for sculpting. Depending on the resolution setting, this would have produced a surface capable of supporting higher resolution masking.
thank you
