HELP PLEASE!!!!!!! Trying to do UVs!

I’m trying to do UVs to export a texture, but I have a big problem. Earlier in my sculpt, I deleted my subdivision levels so I can’t go back to a lower level at all to do UVs. How can I get those back or go to a lower level bit still keep all my painting details and sculpting details? Please help!

You have a couple of options:

  • Reconstruct Subdivisions - Found in the Tool >> Geometry sub-palette this button will attempt to create a lower subdivision level. This will only work if you have deleted the lower subdivision level and not made any geometry-level changes since. Basically, your current model must be something that could have been created from a Divide function. If it’s not, Reconstruction isn’t possible.
  • ZRemesh - Alternatively, you can duplicate your model and then use ZRemesher to create a low resolution version of it. Now divide the model and use Project All to copy the details from the original model to the new one. If you have Draw >> Rgb on then this will copy polypaint as well as details. Divide again and Project again. Keep going until you’ve reached a number of polys that copies all detail from the original, which you can then discard. (Project All works best on multi-resolution models if you step up one level at a time. This ensures that the low resolution mesh is constantly being brought closer and closer to the final model rather than trying to push all the polys at once.)
