Help Needed! Newbie asking the pro's

Well, I wanted to ask the 3d professionals some kind of a simple guide about learning 3D Modeling and texturing.
I ask becouse Im trying to learn 3d but I really dunno where to start. I mean, I got copies the trial/ple versions of zbrush, maya and 3d max and I wanted to know what do you guys think I should learn first, if there is an order to follow. My sculpture teacher told me to learn only zbrush, but still, there are somethings that you can only do in apps like maya or max and Im thinking if I shouldnt learn to use one of those very well to before, to form a basis, I dunno. Right now, Im reading a lot about all the three programs(maya and max becouse I like maya, but in my university they only got max, so Im really studying both) I’ve been using the tutorials that came with max, and I already knew somethings in maya, I would say Im beginner to intermediate, but I really would like to have some guidence. Please, if anyone could help me, I would aprecciate a lot!
Thank you very much.

Im no Pro, but I found that learning traditional poly by poly and box method modling realy helped in the usage of zbrush. Learning 3D modling in a non sculpting enviroment made me think about the quality of the topology/edflow.

Starting to learn the more traditional 3d modling also brought me onto other things that I didnt think about when just working purly in Zbrush alone. Uv mapping was one of these things.

I dont know where you are with your currect skills but, Anatomy, Topology, froms a very good starting point into any Character 3D modling. I would make good use of Max as you have full access to it. Dependant on time you have, Learning just two applications at once would be more than enougth. Sticking to just one 3d application would get you moving faster and if working in 3D is where your heading, then learn a Workhourse application like Max or Maya for a while before adding Zbrush. Zbrush can do a complete character from beginning to end but more often than not, Im guessing your 3D skills will be needed outside Zbrush in a working enviroment.

Zbrush IMO was never intended to replace Max or Maya, but fill a need for a artest or pipeline where freedom to sculpt is added. Zbrush 3 has gone behond that need so having skills in both traditional modling and intuitive modling in Zbrush, gives you a more complete skill set.

Thank you very much for the help, and for the awnser! It helped a lot!
