Help - Bump map and Displacement map for maya

Need a little help with this one.

In maya, when i assign a bump map to my model after I set my approx node and displacement map, I get a strange result. My UV’s are set correctly and ive tested my color and bump on my model before displacement. Feature displacement is off rendered in Maya 6 w/ Mental ray. The problem appears to occure after attaching approx node to object

OK, i figured that its the approx editor making me loosing my bump map. Can anyone at least throw out some ideas that might help?

Using
Maya 6
mental ray
zbrsuh
OBJ imported from zbrush originally created in maya but i no longer have.
Bump map works fine on it;'s own.
displacement works fine on its own
displacement with bump work together
approx node added to fix displacement and bump goes haywire.

heres a couple more pics for referance.problem 1-2.jpg

You can reconstitute the base level (1) mesh by hitting ‘Create Cage’ in ZB
and then export it with Mrg ON & Grp OFF

Maya:
Use SubD Displacement in the Approx Ed.(spatial low = 3 High = 6) ,
with ‘View Dependant’ turned ON
Make sure that you turn ‘Feature Displacement’ OFF in the mesh’ shape node

Turn OFF filtering in your file texture node.

good luck

Ok, i was able to get the map to show after i converted the base mesh to sub divisions in maya. I’ve noticed however that the bump map has errors in it. where my uv’s end I get a wierd edge of some sort. anyone know how to stop this?

Map created with the bump material and then the texture was saved as a PSD. Imported to maya after i fliped it vertically in PS.

ps. still can’t get any bump to show correctly with polygon obj base
