Hello, I'm New to Zbrush

Hi, everyone:

I’m a new Zbrush user, and already I’ve fallen in love with the program. I’m still fumbling and as awkward as a newborn chicken while navigating in Zbrush, but things are getting better. Right now, I’m working through the Practical Manual, and cursing a bit, but loving mostly every minute of my “training.”

The only thing I’ve managed to complete is Glen Southern’s Rusted Golden Idol tutorial – and the results don’t look like exactly like his, but I made it through all the steps. Is it okay to post the results?

Anyway, just thought I’d introduce myself and say “hi” and ask for any tips you guys have for newbies.

I love Zbrush!

Welcome to the addiction!!

As for tips…well you already took care of the first big one…the Practical Guide!! Read the main forum…old threads are chock full of fun things and useful information. Remember too to check out the FAQ and Quicklinks forums as chances are if ya have a question on something you’ll find it pretty quick there.

Practice practice practice.

Check out the newbie challenges in the challenges forum…they are all open ended so you can join in any time and have some fun while learning.

best thing about zbrush is that everyday you learn something new!

have fun and enjoy.

oh yeah…have to say that your idol turned out a hellavalot better than mine did!

Welcome and the best of luck.
Hope, unlike other addictions, this one stays with you.
Since you are posting an image and basically do not
have a problem, you might try posting and introducing
yourself on the main forum, instead of down here in the
subbasement where no one goes.
Again, best of luck, believe that down the road
this will turn out to be an excellent investment of time and effort
:+1: :+1:

Thanks very much for the welcomes and the nice comments! I was a bit nervous about posting on a “new” forum, but you guys have made me more at ease.

And I do love my new addiction – this addiction, I believe, will turn out to be good! And I totally believe you, aminuts, when you say that it’s possible to learn something new in Zbrush every day. I’ve never “met” a program like it in my life!

bicc, I will take your advice and introduce myself on the Main Forum. I wasn’t sure just where to “jump in the water” first.
