Having trouble with Dynamesh

Hello,
I’m having a huge amount of trouble with Dynamesh and I’m at my wits end! I’m trying to prepare my sculpture for 3D print and it’s my understanding that after all subtools have been merged into one, the model needs to be Dynameshed in order to unify it and get rid of any interior geometry.

My problem is that I can’t get over 3 million polygons after a Dynamesh. This results in my model looking incredibly soft and destroys any details.

I’ve used both the Dynamesh menu under the Geometry tab and the Dynamesh Master, but both give the same results.

I’ve tried scaling the model size up, but it has no effect. I’ve set the Dynamesh Master polygon slider to 10 million, but it still results in only 3 mil.

I’ve tried going from the 3 million dynameshed model and sub-dividing a couple of times, then Project All to projecting all details back onto the Dynamesh, but that leaves lots of weird artifacts.

Before attempting to Dynamesh my model currently sits at 20 million polygons. After the Dynamesh was complete I had planned to decimate it to make it as low as possible for 3D printing.
I’m currently using ZBrush 2020.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try running Decimation Master first, and then use Booleans to combine the models instead of Dynamesh.

Will Booleans get rid of the interior geometry for 3D printing? I’ve never used them before. :open_mouth:
Thanks for the reply.

SOLVED!!!

I found this video covering using Live Booleans to prepare a sculpt for 3D printing.

Thank you for your help.
