Having a little trouble with alphas

Hi, Ive read through the tutorial and tried many different settings but I cant seem to get rid of the blur on the outside of my alphas. They start out great when I import them but as soon as I apply them they have radial blur and I lose the outer details.

thanks

Sounds like either your geometry hasnt got enought polygons, or the alpha you have created is too low res.

failing that in the masking menu to the right of the screen you can sharpen the mask.

Lastly check the RF seltting in the alpha menu, that fades the outer edges.

That looks like a focal shift issue?

My alpha is 1300 x 1300. Should it be higher?

Try setting the Focal Shift to -100. Then when you apply the mask it won’t blur the edges.

Im at 1mil polys on the ztool and 3000 x 3000 on the mask - just to be sure its not resolution. Ive tried sharpening the mask and changing the RF setting from 0 to max.

The Focal Shift is set to 0 on that screenshot, try setting it to -100?

Ok It was the focal shift. -100 solved it. Funny, this has been driving me crazy for the longest time.
