Have Higher Detail in Certain Areas?

So I decided to try and learn character modeling, and now I’ve maxed out the poly count. Every change that I make is removing detail from other areas. I guess core isn’t to good for characters eh…

I’m working on the feet now, which are turning out like crap cause I can’t add any more detail.

Is there any way to increase poly count in the feet, hands, face, and take away from legs, stomach and other areas that don’t need so many polygons?

Thanks guys and gals!

You can increase the resolution of just part of your mesh by:

  1. Draw a mask on the area you want to be higher resolution.
  2. Invert the mask by Ctrl+clicking the background.
  3. Divide the unmasked area by pressing Ctrl+D.

Note that this has to be done when your model has no subdivision levels, or at the lowest level.

Ahh thanks Marcus.
