some time ago i saw a publicity of a company making real copies in various materials of 3d files. the result was a scalable object (not just a poster), so nice for sale.
does anybody here have an information about that procedure?
Yes thats 3d printing , but its still expensive.
just search on google.
i would rather call it sculpting.
robotical sculpting
You may call it whatever you wish, but everyone else calls it “3D Printing”, if you’re looking for information on the subject.
good to know.
yes i went checking - thank you!
It actually depends on the process. The work of a 3D milling machine is more like robotic sculpting–however there are cuts that a 3D milling machine can’t do (as I understand it). Three-D printing involves building up a model in layers which opens up the possibilities considerably. I’ve even seen working parts fab’d with a 3D printer all in one go (crescent wrenches, various types of bearing systems, etc.)

I recently found out this page.

Build your own 3D printer. Not bad for a one-man-work.
i’ll build it on the beach -
