Happy Purim to all the Jewish Zbrushers out there!

With all the holiday artwork posted on these forums, I wanted to wish all my fellow Jewish Zbrushers a wonderful and meaningful Purim.
Purim (Hebrew: פורים Pûrîmlots”, related to Akkadian pūru) is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people of the ancient Persian Empire from Haman’s plot to annihilate them, as recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Esther). According to the story, Haman cast lots to determine the day upon which to exterminate the Jews.

Purim is celebrated annually according to the Hebrew calendar on the 14th day of the Hebrew month of Adar, the day following the victory of the Jews over their enemies; as with all Jewish holidays, Purim begins at sundown on the previous secular day. In cities that were protected by a surrounding wall at the time of Joshua, including Shushan (Susa) and Jerusalem, Purim is celebrated on the 15th of the month, known as Shushan Purim. Purim is characterized by public recitation of the Book of Esther (keriat ha-megilla), giving mutual gifts of food and drink (mishloach manot), giving charity to the poor (mattanot la-evyonim), and a celebratory meal (se’udat Purim);[2] other customs include drinking wine, wearing of masks and costumes, and public celebration.

Jewish exiles from the Kingdom of Judah who had been living in the Babylonian captivity (6th Century BCE) found themselves under Persian rule after Babylonia was in turn conquered by the Persian Empire. According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus,[3] planned to kill the Jews, but his plans were foiled by Esther and Mordechai, evidence of divine intervention on behalf of the Jews. The Jews were delivered from being the victims of an evil decree against them and were instead allowed by the King to destroy their enemies, and the day after the battle was designated as a day of feasting and rejoicing.

The above image was modeled/Rendered in Modo302RC2, Sculpted in ZB, brought back in Modo302rc2, painted and textured (even adjusted some of the dispalcements, the new viewport shader is amazingly fast and accurate).Modo does image based diplscement so it doesn’t have to display millions of polys to get the same results Zbrush does. The Skyline was a Stencil Map I painted in modo. I brough all my alphas from photoshop and created similar brushes within Modo. The final composite was made in Fusion and a ZbornToy pass was added on top to give it a final punch.

Enjoy.

Nicely done sculpt and there is a message there as well. I’m not entirely sure what that message is to be honest, but some ambiguity is a good thing.

Megillah Esther! ALthough I dunno why the New York skyscape is part of the composition. Didn’t notice it at first.

Someday I will do Jewish themed zbrush artwork. Although probably all figurative stuff, that seems to be what I like to do.

Needs some hebrew script textures!

:+1: :+1:

I would love to see someone take the reigns and do some artwork based on Jewish themes. You want to do something basd on Purim and add it to this thread?

The NY based Skyline, that’s because in disapora Purim is still relevent to us today. Its implied in the design, as everything about Purim was implied as g-d’s name isn’t mentioned once but one realizes each and every event was being organized by g-d.

I must mention radial Symmtery in Zbrush Kicks @$$!

Note: I attached some screen shots here so you can see. Modo302 can show you Zbrushes Displacment in the viewport in real-time without any slow down. Image based displacement is quite useful and one step closer to use being able to animate displacemnts in the viewport.

I was working on a nude female, russian. She could be an ashkinazic Esther!

ALthough I don’t know what type of clothing they wore at the time or were I could find detailed images of the dress she would wear.

Btw, don’t you go by the name of Taron too here?
