guv conversion???

Is there a method to take a guv or auv texture created in zbrush and convert it so that it is editable in photoshop or deep paint. basically - the tile mapping in zbrush just isnt practical once exported and i have spent a long time making this model and its textures but had problems when initally trying to create a standard texture map and so opted for guv, now i need a little tweaking on the displacement and texture mapping but need to do it in photo shop

Plllease help - Thanks

Import the mesh into your 3D software package of choice and apply two UV maps to it: one being the Z-Brush GUV tile map, with its ZB painted texture applied; and the other being a user friendly one that you’ll be able to edit in Photoshop. Then bake the texture to this new UV map and away you go!

Cheers,

R

thanks rory_l - i did it - kind of - could you help me out just a little more please - why apply the second uv? i mean what i did was - apply the uvw map - vertex channel it - texture bake. could you tell me if the secondary uv map will have a different effect? thanks!:+1:

You have spent a long time texturing the model in ZB, using a GUV map, right? To transfer that texture to a user friendly UV map you have to apply that texture to the model in your texture baking 3D software, (Max, Maya, LW, etc…) and then bake that texture onto the new, user friendly map. This will make a completely new texture: it will not fit on the old GUV map, but only on the new UV map.

That is why you need two UV maps. Clearer?
