Group visible does not change the selected area to a different color

Hi,

I am learning how to use Zbrush and I got to poly-groups, but I encountered a problem. Group visible does not change the selected area to a different color. What I did:

  • SHIFT + CTRL + lasso tool to make selection
  • did the selection, released buttons + mouse
  • pressed CTRL + W - to group
  • the group happened, but no visual feedback - the color did not change
  • I can use SHIFT + CTRL + Click to select it, but I see no difference in colors, no matter how many poly-groups I make.
    Any ideas?

Have you tried just grouping it again, just like you did? It should cycle through colors, giving another one each time.

Yap, tried grouping them a lot of times. The weird thing is that the grouping works each time, but it doesn’t change the colour, it doesn’t cycle through different colours at all.

Yap, tried all that multiple times on different tools and projects. It does the grouping, it works how it should, but no visual feedback, the color of the model stays the same. Is there an option somewhere to disable/enable colouring the polygroup?

Do you have Draw Polyframe on? (Shift+F)

I feel like an idiot. That was it! Thanks for the tip, I have spent 2 hours ravaging through menus, for nothing. Back to learning, for me. Thanks, again!!!

It would behoove you to read the docs. With such a vast amount of information and an understanding of it, frustration will be reduced and productivity enhanced. It ‘will’ take some time.
