GOZ resets the gamma/LUT settings in 3DS Max incorrectly

Hi all. I have been using ZBrush/GOZ with 3d max for some years and generally find it a good workflow. One thing that does not work correctly is that when sending a mesh from Zbrush to max via GOZ, the GoZ script automatically disables my Max Gamma settings. Specifically, it changes the max setting from enabled to disabled. This is not correct for a linear workflow and it would be great to not have to manually re-enable the gamma setting every single time I pass a mesh back and forth between Zbrush and Max. Is there a fix for this?

I note that this question was asked by another person on this forum in Feb but was never answered.

Hi @C_Man777

Assuming you are using the most up to date version of Zbrush (currently 2020) and a target program version that is officially supported by GoZ, please report any issues with its functioning to Pixologic Support via ticket.

I have no way of testing your specific pipeline, and if there’s an issue with how GoZ is functioning, it needs to be reported to Support in order to receive technical attention.

@Spyndel

Thanks for the response. Yes I have Zbrush 2020 installed and get the error with max 2019 which is officially supported and Max 2020 (which apparently is not yet supported.) I guess your re-direct to open a ticket indicates that you do not have the issue (or do not have gamma/LUT correction enabled in 3ds max) and that this is a user specific issue. In any case, thanks for the response. I will write up a ticket.

No @C_Man777, it’s just that not every zbrush user uses the same third party software. I am not a 3dsMax user. I have no way of testing your specific software pipeline.

You can wait and hope that someone who uses the exact same software setup you do knows the answer to your question, but as you noted, the same question has gone unanswered before.

This is just a community forum. We don’t fix bugs or develop the program. If you feel that GoZ is not functioning as it should, it needs to be reported to Support in order to receive any attention from the people that do.
