modo opens when I click GoZ or All or Visible with an editable tool active in ZB, but nothing loads/appears in modo. modo says there’s nothing there (no polys to work on). What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

Which version of modo and GoZ are you using?
501
Zb4
version of goZ, not Zbrush.
If you haven’t updated to the latest version then goZ doesn’t work with 501. I am guessing that is your problem.
I’m having the same problem. I just installed GoZ (folder entitled ‘GoZ_Mac_June-14-2011’) and Modo 501 SP4. No problems with Maya, though. GoZ works as advertised between ZB and Maya as far as I can tell so far.
Sending from ZB to Modo results in empty scene in Modo. Sending from Modo to ZB creates an error where ZB says it can’t open the mesh. Both apps are saving to the correct directory. There are both ztn and ZTL files there from both apps.
Mac OS 10.6.8, if that matters.
I’m using 501.3 and no problems on my side. Could be lion or version 4 that is throwing the error.
I would submit a support ticket.
I’m also having problems since updating to Modo 501 ver 4 yesterday, but only on my Win xp 32 bit computer. Everything works fine on my Win 7 64 bit computer.
When I tried install to the new version of 501 to my 32 bit machine, the administrator log in screen flashes for just second and then I get a application termination notice and zb closes.
I’ve completely reinstalled goz twice and still have these problems, so I’m will also submit a ticket.
Odd that it works so well with my HP Win7 64 bit but not the other one.
UPDATE!!:
Ok, I was just reading the GoZ_Upgrade_Steps.pdf. I finally looked at the Manual install PDF and followed the following instructions (over riding some of these files which were already in place):
modo:
[font=Arial,Arial]Note: modo 501 uses the same GoZ files as modo 401.
[font=Arial,Arial]• First, make sure that modo is not running before continuing.
• Click Start > Computer and browse to the modo application folder. (For example, the default modo 401 SP5 application folder is “C:\Program Files\Luxology\modo\401 sp5”.)
• Copy the file “C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\modo\ GoZ_Cat401.cfg” into the modo application’s “resrc” sub-folder.
• Also copy the file “C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\modo[version]\gozio.lx” into the modo application’s “extra” sub-folder, where [version] is your modo version (‘‘Modo401 - 32bits’’, ‘‘Modo501 - 64bits’’, etc).
I didn’t have immediate success after this, and I’m not sure why, but something just clicked in and now its installed itself correctly. So at least try the above if you are having problems with the newest version of Modo.
I had this happen and I believe it’s related to layer use specifically. You should be able to change quite a bit, including topology, of your model and not have it go black. I was doing just that until I started adding layers and then my tool got the dreaded “Black Mesh” disease. I have to test my theory by baking the layers I want first and the trying GoZ.
