GoZ issues Max2011

After upgrading to Zbrush 2018, I posted an inquiry about a newly inheirited inability to transfer my projects to 3dsMax with GoZ, and unfortunately it has gone unanswered for over a month.

I paid good money for Zbrush and I would appreciate some help with your software now that it doesn’t work.

"
GoZ issues Zbrush2018 upon fresh installation of the 3dmax plugin, fails, stating that the directory may not have user priviliges even though I have enabled ADMIN on the executable.

Upon opening 3dsMax 2011, I get a MAXScript Auto-load Script Error that states “–Runtime error: dotNet runtime exception: Invalid directory on URL.”

Macro_GoZ is in the startup folder of 3dsMax and Zbrush 2018 sends files to the GoZProjects/Default folder.

I’ve never had an issue with this procedure prior to Zbrush 2018. Perhaps that is the cause? "

Recent versions of ZBrush only support GoZ to 3ds Max 2016 and later as described here:
http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/zbrush-other-programs/goz/about-goz/

However, for older versions of 3ds Max there is a legacy installer provided in the C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 2019\Troubleshoot Help\ folder. To use this:

  1. Delete the “Max” folder located in the C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZApps\ folder.
  2. In the C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 2019\Troubleshoot Help\ folder, run the GoZ_for_ZBrush_Installer_WIN_3DSMax_Legacy.exe file.
  3. Start ZBrush and press the Preferences>GoZ>Path to 3D Studio Max button. Make sure you choose the correct path to 3ds Max and make sure that you choose the “Install” option.

Also, for questions of this sort, you will probably find that submitting a ticket at https://support.pixologic.com/ is the best way of getting the response you need.

HTH,

OK, now 3dsmax 2011 can GoZ objects to Zbrush 2018, but GoZ from Zbrush does nothing but flash the window like something was executed to no effect.

I still get that MAXScript Auto-load Script Error that states “–Runtime error: dotNet runtime exception: Invalid directory on URL.” when I load 3dsMax.

Appreciate the help.

I really don’t know how to solve that as I don’t have an early version of Max to test, though presumably it is something to do with the Macro_Goz.ms file. You could try these files to see if they make any difference. Copy to the C:\Users\Public\Pixologic_GoZ_Legacy\GoZApps\Max\ folder, replacing the files of the same names already there. You’ll then need to do a forced re-install for GoZ for Max by pressing Preferences>GoZ>force reinstall.
