GoZ error message: insufficient disk space

Hello all,

total uber noob here. I’ve installed ZBrush 4R6 on Mac 10.8.4 and it’s working fine. This was a fresh install, not an upgrade. A few weeks prior I had installed Scultpris Alpha 6. Also on my machine I have Photoshop CS5 (unextended), Photoshop CC and Poser Pro 2012.

So I thought, hey that GoZ thing sounds like a neat idea. I followed the instructions for Scultpris (ie copy that Scultpris folder over to Users/Shared/Pixologic/GoZApps) and all should be fine. Sadly that’s not the case.

When I hit the GoZ button inside Scultpris, all I get is a jumping document in my toolbar called “GoZMakeObjectPath”. Nothing else happens. And when I hit GoZ inside ZBrush, first I get the dialogue that searches for installed applications, then comes up with apps I can choose from, and when I choose Scultpris, I get an error message telling me I have insufficient disk space (I have over 50GB left… unless that’s not enough for a friggin sphere with 100 vertices).

No matter which application I try to use, none of them actually open.

What am I doing wrong?

There’s a permissions issue with your Users/Public/Pixologic folder. It’s easily resolved:

  1. Select that folder and press Cmd+I to get info on it.
  2. At the bottom of the Info window, make sure that the sharing and permissions section is expanded. If it’s not, click on it to expand it.
  3. At the lower right of the window, click the padlock icon. You’ll be asked for your admin name and password.
  4. The user groups will now be able to be worked with. Next to the Everyone user group, click the permission type and choose “Read Only”
  5. Under the groups list, click the gear icon and choose the option to “Apply to Enclosed Items”.
  6. Change the Everyone user group to “Read & Write”
  7. Click the gear icon again and apply to enclosed items again.
  8. Lock the permissions and close the Info window.

The names of the sections or choices may be slightly different depending on your OS X version.

You should now be fine!

Spot on, aurick - worked like a treat! I can now exchange from Sculptris to ZBrush and back. Thank you so much

How do I send a mesh to Poser or Photoshop? ZBrush only ever opens Scultpris when I click the GoZ button in the tool palette, but I don’t get a choice for the other options.
