GoZ and Split function broken?

I am using the Academic license for Maya 2018 and a trial for zBrush 2018.1. The following error happens when I try to use the GoZ button in Maya to send multiple meshes into zBrush to be separate subtools. I am following a Gnomon tutorial.

// Warning: file: C:/Users/Public/Pixologic/GoZApps/Maya/GoZBrushFromMaya.mel line 472: fopen: unable to open file “C:\Users\Public\Pixologic\GoZProjects\Default\Modular_Pieces|Pillar_1.ztn” for mode “w”.

I thought that maybe importing an OBJ of the meshes and splitting to parts would be an option, but nothing happens when I try.

I am relatively new to zBrush.

Is it even possible to send multiple meshes to zBrush without them being combined into one subtool without using GoZ (split to parts does not work)? Do I have to manually export each item as a separate .obj?

I’m afraid I don’t know why you’re getting the error. But you can send multiple meshes to ZBrush using the FBX format. (Import into ZBrush using the FBX plugin in the Zplugin palette.)

Thanks so much for replying! An FBX export/import has solved both issues.

I had read that there may be an occasional problem with transferring by .FBX, so that is why I contemplated a fast multiple .obj export solution if it was needed.
