Hello all,
This is my first personal model in a long long time. It’s been in my “to finish” folder since last year, i guess.

It’s not meant to be a realistic redemption of a Gorilla at all, think of this as an idealized model, inspired by many great sculptors from the past (although since my last visit to Louvre i think i’m WAY too far from them :()

I love a good gorilla sculpt and this is great. The way the curling hair is sculpted is a feast for the eyes. The whole bust has a kind of mandala like quality to me. Thanks for sharing.

Looking at the face I can see a lot of realistic assymetry. This is a wonderful piece. Deserving of a top row I think.

Thanks man. Yeah, i broke the simetry from the start, the hair was totally sculpted without simetry.

Great piece, I would top row-it…very original idea, love the chips on the bust when viewed from the back…could you shed some light on how the curls were created (brush, size, focal etc…) well done five stars from me.

A boroque gorilla eh? It was certianly a one that was worth finishing. 5 stars and it’s got to be top row for its innotative approach to a well worn subject. Love those curls. :wink:
