Gnomon Workshop Intro to Zbrush 4 DVDgood for beginner?

Hi guys. Im new to zbrush. I want to find a long form video tutorial on zbrush. t was looking on the Gnomon Workshop website and found Scott Spencer’s “Introduction to Zbrush 4” DVD: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/product/953/Introduction-to-ZBrush-4. Is this a good starting point for someone wanting to learn the program? Its expensive so i want to make sure i am buying the correct thing. If this isnt a good place to start can you recommend a different tutorial? Thanks.

I watched the sample clip. The artist says the goal is “to allow a beginning ZB user to advance to intermediate
level” after watching the tuts. Or something to that effect. It’s not a direct quote, but that’s the meaning I
got out of the promo clip.

It is expensive. And I’m not a total beginner, but some things are addressed in that set of tuts that I’ve not seen
addressed in depth, anywhere else. Like Array Mesh – I can’t grasp the way the settings work, on my own.

And it’s the only set of tuts I’ve seen related to the new 4R7 release. Latest version used on dig tutors is 4R6.

It’s advertised as the most comprehensive set of tuts available, for ZB. I don’t think you could go wrong with it. The author/artist is surely experienced w/ZB, too. I’ve got at least one book written by Scott-Spencer.

That’s just my two cents though.

Edit: After viewing the first video, I repeat what I said earlier…I don’t think you can go any way but "right’ with this tut set. Lots of foundation stuff, but the project-based approach holds my attention.

Edit II: Excellent, A+, “best ZBrush course I’ve ever found” set of videos. I haven’t watched them all yet, but would totally recommend the series based on what I’ve seen so far. Every beginning/intermediate ZB user ought to have this set on hand. Great for reference, great for hidden tips, totally interesting…just top of the line. I wish the Scott-Spencer Anatomy book was in this format, too.
