Does anyone know how to create the glow seen around the outside edges of this light sabre blade with ZBrush? I had to resort to using PaintShop Pro to get the effect I was looking for.
Thnaks.

Have you tried using the glow material and/or glow brush for the effect?
Ok, the glow material never seems to work for me, I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong there, but it doesn’t seem to glow at all. When I applied the glow brush all it seemed to do was blur my background. Could you draw up a quick example on how to use those 2 items. Thanks.
BTW, I was trying to make this light sabre for a friend, but yours looks much better, would you mind sharing the ZTool, or whatever you used to make it with me? Thanks again.
First off, you will only get the glow effect in Best Render. In the material properties of the glow material you can control the color, amount of glow etc… The blade in my image is just a thin cylinder with glow material, that I added a bit of noise to.
Using the glow brush, make sure you have zadd on and work with the object in a seperate layer than the background, so it doesn’t effect anything else. In my image I didn’t use the glow brush at all, it is just the material.
It’s been awhile, but I think I found all the parts to the handle, you are welcome to use them, I’d be honored
My problem with the glow brush is that it doesn’t seem to work on my objects on a layer by themselves, I have to merge the object layer down to my background layer and the effect doesn’t look that great. I played around a little more with the glow material, and I think I might be able to get what I’m looking for with it. Cool! Thanks for the parts and hints Digits.
