giving subdivisions to only the sculpted areas you're working in?

I saw about a year ago there was a way to sculpt on a mesh by only giving divisions in areas where its needed, instead of subdividing the whole entire mesh. The video I saw, the person was sculpting on a very low poly mesh, but was able to sculpt very high details in whatever area they were using the brush in. I cant seem to find this feature anywhere, nor can I find the video again. It’s apparently a new feature in a recent update to zbrush.

It was probably Sculptris Pro, which is only available in ZBrush 2018.
