giraffe

this was an attempt to model and texture a giraffe. i used a photo to texture and then painted to add details and unify the picture. the model was made from zspheres and then a unified skin. i am trying to find the the right balance between using photos for texture and then painting. i still have a lot of work to do to get the results that i am looking for, but i thought i would post my progress. it was also a good excercise with zspheres. any questions or comments are welcome!

Great model and texturing artboy :+1: :+1:

it really is an ingenious technique, even if you don’t have enough photo reference to cover the entire model. it can often be enough to guide you through adding the rest of the texture by hand.

impressive work!! i especially like his mane  :+1:

WOW very realistic… damn it’s a good pic

Great job, but they are a bitch to housebreak.

fantastico!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Hi Artboy21, Very well done picture. I have yet to try the photo texturing. It really ads a 3d effect without the actual modeling. I am curious about the upcoming ‘fuzz shader’ in the next version. Take care, 50.

Fantastic work Artboy! You have found a very
neat balance and it’s showing. Hopeto see some
more like this!
Keep up the good work!

Very cool modeling, And A great texture…
How are the render settings on this one…

Great AGAIN !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

thanks for all of the feedback everyone! that is one of the reasons that keeps me posting here!

tjaden: yes i don’t worry about getting the model to look exactly like the photo, cause i can always cut and paste pieces of the photo and paint to join the pieces together.

frenchy: yes, after i drop the model and then picking it with the texture the model can be rotated for different views. of course only the one side is textured, but can easily be textured on the other side as well.

q-qeo: the render setting is just the standard setting. i have just changed the secondary light to a light yellow

thanks again everyone!
