I may have opened my big mouth and asked for trouble but my girlfried is one of several people who will be putting together a web site. The person they went to gave them an estimate that boggles the mind.
He broke it down into phases

  1. phase 1 design, build test=2000
  2. Online store building 5000
    3, Media gathering 5000
  3. Phone and set up 1000/mo
  4. Prizes and sweepstakes 3000
  5. Media preparation 1500 etc,etc,etc
    With advertising,etc, he gave a proposal estimated 50,000-150,000
    The Power Point Presentation was in black and white.
    First question, do these sound like Disneyland?
    Second and here is where I come to you.
    I had mentioned that perhaps models could be used.
    Such as figures, designed in Zbrush pointing at the different categories etc.
    Realize this is vague, but I was told to keep it that way.
    Any help or advice appreciated.

Ya those prices do indeed boggle the mind. I would definetly tell your girlfriend to look for a second opinion.

It could definetly be DisneyLand.

It would be helpful to see HER requirements to compare to their list.

If it would help, I could generate 2 or 3 offers against her requirements for comparison.

It’s imperative to know her requirements and goals before telling you if this company is Mickey Mouse.

I am operating under certain restrictions.
I realize the problem.
I am requesting advice and am only giving you part of the circumstances.
At the risk of being beheaded.
It is a form of cultural and fund raising site combined.
Beginning:mostly fund raising.
This project is in the formative stages.
The eventual numbers involved will be substantial.
Preliminary request given to web site developer, who came back with 12 pages of a power point presentation.
When the 150,000 figure was seen, smelling salts passed around.
We have access to Go-live, Studio Mx, Front Page.
I thought the cost would be a few hundred or thousand tops.
Suggested hiring professional, am in trouble.
