General Image Resolution Question

Hello,

I’m asking myself why the image resolution is limited to about 4000 pixels. To get nice renders I’ve to use the AAHalf mode. So the antialiased image is limited to about 2000 pixels. This would be about 18cm at 300dpi.
This is ok for broadcast but I do much work for print and sometimes I’ve got to do big formats. Is there a way to get really big renders from the zBrush renderer or are big renders not supported?
Maybe I’m too stupid(in fact I’m newbie to zBrush), but as I read related topics I found no solutions. Do I’ve to puzzle a few single-render-pieces and bring them back together in Photoshop?

Please help!

The document size is limited to 4096x4096 in order to maintain real-time 2.5D rendering while you paint.

Many users have created larger documents by working in sections which are then composited in Photoshop.

OK. Thanks

“working in Sections”… means that they render each piece in max. resolution for example to make a 2D “collage” in Photoshop?

…or is it possible to blow up the document to render each quarter of a canvas in max. resolution (then pastet together in photoshop) to get a 4-times higher resolution?..using zBrushs 2,5D possibilities?

Hmm, I’d be interested in links to any posts that describe how people have got round the size limitation. I’m an illustrator and most of my work is on magazines and books, most of which are somewhere around A4 format. ZBrush couldn’t even manage a single page illustration never mind a double page spread.
Are most illustrators using ZB for web work? Or is there some clever technique for producing an illustration in peices so that lighting and viewpoint etc match perfectly?

Any plans for a clever sidestep on the image size limitation Pixolator? I appreciate the the need for real time painting you described above (though increasing processing power should help with this?)but if you’re combining 3d objects to create a scene it ought to be possible to work larger?
Maybe different anti-aliasing method would allow the use of the full 4096x4096 without having to halve the size?

Here’s hoping! - Baz

In order to match the viewpoint the general document size has to be increased I think.
It would satisfy me if I could render maybe 4-6 pieces at the max 4096pixels(and combine them later in photoshop) but the viewpoint would not match.
Maybe a script that manages the viewpoint problem. would be nice
