Geforce 4 Box cover!

Anyone spotted this? I’m guessing it’s legit!

I’ve seen it on a site somewhere , thats one of pixolator’s artworks right ?

Very, very cool. Although I somehow doubt that it was created using a GeForce 4. LOL

Hi,
Upham: Gainward use of the GARRR! image was not authorized.
You can read more in this article. (clearer image in this article)

Whooo hooo… B U S T E D !!!

Big time!

Something told me something wasn’t right with the use of this established ZBrush trademark image to advertise another product! I thought it might not be legit! I’ve seen this box all over the shelves in the stores down in my part of the world,(and I guess all over Australia as well) So I hope you file a lawsuit and get some compensation Pix! And like the article says they will have to take them off the shelves and repackage them, at their own expense!
I guess it wouldn’t hurt to reduce the images on your website a bit Pix, so they aren’t so printable!
Also I’m not having any luck with that second article you posted. It seems to be in french (??)
Upham

I hope one day we can reach a point where copyright has international protection, stealing somebody’s work is in my book no different to any other form of theft. Its not new of course and when I was producing my range of miniature figurines it was always a worry. On one occasion I had a letter from Spain from a character asking me to send him a catalogue of my figures as he had bought one of my figures in Spain. As Spain was not one of the countries I had any traders in, I wrote back and asked where he had bought the figure, he never replied. It was not uncommon for the unscrupulous to take moulds of others figures then sell them their selves. I heard cases from many friends in the business who had experienced these problems, and unless you were fortunate enough to find out it was happening, it was almost certain somewhere in the world your work was being ripped off.
With computer images even digital watermarking is not going to help in something like Pixolators case, lets hope he can resolve it in a satisfactory way because it is in all our interests if these characters learn they can’t always get away with it.

gasperdoochies…that is like stealing a Davinci or rembrandt…they are not too smart stealing from the master…yeah I cant read french and couldnt get onto the other site… :frowning: can someone paraphrase the articles for us? thnx ron…I cant even get my kids to steal my images for grade school…I dont know if I would be pissed or flattered or a bit of both…What is an artist entitled to when something like this would happen? What are you supposed to do when this might occur? just curious…Keep us posted, Ofer…

I had read that someone’s artwork was stolen for use of a video card box. I didn’t realize it was Pixolator!

Well, I hope something good comes of it in the end.

i don’t care if anyone use’s stuff off me BUT if there Going to make a profit off it they better share a little with me…
i would make them compensate with some cash and if they want to keep using the image put made by WHO along with a website addy and not in small print eather.
thats what i would do if i was PIX throw my foot in to there booty with some GE Force :+1:

I read French and basically the article was asking how you would feel if someone stole your work. It goes on to say that there should be recourse through the law. It did say that it was Pix’s work. that it in a nutshell.

Here’s the french put through a translator just for the hell of it.

You will notice that more or less it is well the image of Daryl. On the drawing limps is reversed and the species of claw in front of the face has five branches instead of three. During this discussion on the forum CGTalk Ofer Alon alias Pixolator, another designer very known in the medium, (it is the founder of pixologic as discovered to him as one of these works had been used without its authorization by Gainward. Do polemic around the design of limp of Gainward Which would be your reaction if you discover that a well-known company had stolen your work? You would be horrified and made indignant all was Daryl Mandryk an artist 3D and designer which discovered that one of its artworks figure on limps of the news GeForce 4 MX 460 of Gainward whose photo was published at PCPop. By exposing its problem on the forum CGTalk Daryl discovered that its drawing had been used also for limp of GeForce3 Ti 200 De Gainward. On left the original drawing of Daryl exposed in this virtual Gallery A right limps it of GeForce 3 Ti 450 Goldens delicious Sample de Gainward You will notice that more or less it is well the image of Daryl. Judge rather: On left the original artwork of Pixolator of which you can discover work here. On right-hand side the photograph (high resolution) of limps GeForce 4 MX 600 Sample Goldens delicious of which we will propose soon the test to you Y-a it a possible doubt? Not there is no, it is well the drawing of Pixolator which is on this limps. Did Gainward (whose we always await explanations) knowingly steal these images? Not if on, because these companies often call upon companies of design taiwanaises just like they for the design of their package. The laws on the copyright being very flexible in Taiwan, these companies of design are smelled geographically protected and with the shelter from the American and European laws much more strict. They to use a drawing found on Internet is not reprehensible. Moreover MSI which had entrusted the design of its limp GeForce 4 MX with one of these small companies found itself, a few times ago, in the same situation as Gainward. But MSI finally negotiated a remuneration with the author of the artwork being reproduced on limps below. Let us wish that Gainward make some as much with Pixolator and Daryl.

it said On the drawing limps is reversed and the species of claw in front of the face has five branches instead of three…
im not 100% percent i fully understand it but it sounds to me that some one took PIX IMAGE and reconstructed it…
i think under the COPY right Law You can NOT re form or construct some one image in any form or matter… that pic is to similar…
that would be like taking the same image and just adding let say a Earing THEN would that give me the right to say ( i ) made it…
Don’t Take Law into your own hands Take them to Court but if that don’t work Beat the hell out of them lol…
if the pic was re made as far as understand im sure it can be ZOOMED in to run some true test to see if it was copyed…
time pix gets done With them im sure it will be buy zbrush 123b and get GeForce 4 for FREE at there exspence…

I hope most artists will continue to publish high-res version of their pictures on the internet despite these cases of theft.

It’s so great to be able to apreciate a good picture at a good resolution and it’s so frustrating when you see a picture that looks great but is only available in 640x480 format so you can’t really apreciate it :frowning:
