Gaudiesque Workshop In Mexico

Here is a rare opportunity, an immersion in a live Gaudiesque production. Only 12 applicants can be accepted on a first come basis. Participate in touring some incredibly sculptural architecture, designing a new, sculptural, concrete vault and then build it on the spot! Or behold the action while resting in the shade. Material is largely pumice-concrete, which dates back to the Pantheon of Rome. This event is held by a sure to be famous American, Steve Kornher, at his site in San Miguel De Allende, GTO.
Mexico.

Steve has tentatively invited me down to show off my CAD software, formZ and Zbrush while modeling dream houses for workshop participants, (but only if applicants mention the CAD show). He is new to computers but wants to learn about CAD, along with participants. (I’m actually new to Zbrush and am stuck till I set up my xkeys).

It seems a wonderful artistic way to create a basic structure that one could be both proud of and partake in. I love what he has done so far…good arguements for form following function and vice versa. Seems a beautiful project without an indepth look so far I wish you both the best and hope that the results are posted here…or somewhere anyways.

cools stuff that gives me ideas for my soon to be torn up and redone front and back yards.

Im an architect, 3dartist, have experience in cad and 3d, as well zbrush, get tough by senosian organic architecture, and in the other side Im mexican,my opinion its that guy dosent have an idea of gaudi architecture or the idea or respect the enviorment, his design its definilly ones that fits the vernacula architecture of san miguel de allende, just an opinion.

I doubt that locality always defines vernacularity any more. Global villages have too many deeply entwined roots to ponder. It is respect for Gaudi that his name was remembered – For enlightening architecture “out of the box” of stuffy formalisms of the past – Recognizing natural patterns as worthy models to increasingly emulate. It takes ages to evolve out of authoritarian fossilizations. For examle–

“Non-monstrous, playful, organic, structural workshop”… Or icons might make safer subject headings? Sharing sculptural technique, sorting out cultural constraints, notwithstanding human imperfections, vis-à-vis one relativity or another.

The designer-builder usually has to accommodate the client . “The customer is always right” or monetarily so it too often turns out. We enjoyed touring some of Steve’s works and also some local vaults of old.

May I persuade interested persons to google the rest, thanks, Bo
