Game Developer Opportunities..?

A good friend of mine is a Senior Software Engineer for a reputable company, but is getting bored with the work and would like to shift into a game developement/programming etc. field of his trade. He asked me for help… I work as a 3D artist in film and television, and know where to look for jobs for myself, but do not know where someone would look for that type of job…

Does anyone know of any game developer sites/forums to inquire about those job opportunities…?

I know in my line of work it also pays to know someone and have a healthy network to get work. (We are in a SMALL industry), but I don’t even know who he would be looking to get in touch with at a game house (job title-wise)… Anyone have any suggetions…?

If your friend has any particular companies in mind, I would suggest going to those companies websites and looking for company info and/or company job listings. I’ve noticed that game companies list jobs for all departments, including the technical/programing side of game development.

I visited several game company’s sites and cited them for him, but it still falls short of the community as such that Digital Artists have (ZBrush Central, CGSociety,Highend3d etc). In order for him to search the trade and ask questions of people involved in developing. I ran across a couple sites ( www.gamedev.net ) and have been helping him research, but what do I know…

I was just curious if anyone knew of a good site as opposed to just “a site” … Just as if someone was questioning 3d and digital art I would immediatly rattle off a few that I am fond of…
